HELP! i can connect to the server and everything works out fine, but i can only select two player or double mode. i would appreciate it if anyone who knows how to fix this can answer.

you mean you can't login once connected ?
in that case you need to create a local profile on your sm client.
Main menu>Options>profiles>"create a profile here with the exact same account name as the one you registered on the site"

Yes, could be a config mistake, go to your start menu, all programs, your stepmania, and click stepmania tools. there you will find a button that says clear mappings. then start stepmania with the default controls and fix them this time without touching player 2's controls.
