Hi guy's, As you probably all have notice a sad thing happened to our community, the founders of SMO stopped offering there service to the community and took there server offline. As we think people should not be left with no SMO service. we stepped in to save this SMO community and applied to take over there service and to keep all current scores.... so it aint over untill we STEP STEP STEP!... (or typ typ typ... for that matter ) Help us make this project shine again! Are you ready?..... LET'S, DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION! .....

I see. thanks for your support and hosting for us then. when I noticed the SMOus was offlined for good, I relocated here.
using same name and pass and everything lol
I wish more people played Stepmania. SMOus had NO game rooms ever, and this place has 4 at a time.
SPREAD THE WORD! DO NOT LET THIS CULTURE DIE!
lol
10 stars for the mods
P.S. I have a suggestion for scoring. we should announce if we use a Keyboard, or a dancepad, then get scored accordingly. Having DanceDanceRevolution mixed with FingerFingerRevolution is kinda bad. I like to compete with the scores, but the top 300 is 100% Keyboards

I am also one that came from the SMO.us. I didn't play online for a long period of time though, but as I wanted to try it again here just recently and it was closed down, I found this place. (And I was also "Spiller" there. In general, I'm "Spiller" if it isn't taken, otherwise I'm "spillerrec" which always appear free (other than if I try to register a place where I already had registered once and forgot about it xD).

Well I used to play at smo.us as well back in the days when the server still was online but I got pretty annoyed by all the times that the server either suddenly got turned offline and resumed in just the blink of an eye or offline for a couple of days.. sometimes weeks. However when I realized that the server was dead for good I started playing on this one (I was already registered here btw). But well I don't see that as any big loss because I actually like it better here , and the admins and such is also more helpful here then they were over there if you ask me

We try But thank you, we're dedicated to keeping the smo community alive, and we enjoy the game just as much as every other member in his forum. We appreciate the compliments, and we hope to see this community running for years to come.

So how are you planning to take over SMO.com? Will you try to merge .com and .eu together, or will you set up a separate server for .com?

Will the results we had on stepmaniaonline.com be removed or is it anyway that they will be recovered?

Have one suggestion and that is if you are taking over the stepmaniaonline.com site then post on there site this site since the stepmania.com site is being taking over by you. That way all who go to stepmaniaonline.com can still play online like they use to.

I'm really glad this is happening. I'm even more glad people were able to find this site on their own. A couple of points.
1) I am going to try to see what we can do about keeping all of the historical stat records since this was an ENORMOUSLY used feature, with more than 10,000 stat page views a month. I think of it as a quite an accomplishment for those who made it to the top 20 list of all time. Part of me wants to get plaques made for everyone on that list :-p.
2) We will _not_ be running a US server. I could see StepManiaOnline.eu running an experimental server, but I do not expect the servers to be different geographically.
3) The website may eventually auto-redirect, as for now, I have simply linked it.
4) We will be working with StepManiaOnline.eu to improve their interface and help with modifications to the main StepMania tree.
5) StepManiaOnline.eu will be in charge of all administration. The old SMO is giving up all of its rights.
6) The user base (at least passwords and other personal information) cannot be transferred as per the agreement we [SMO] had with the community as per the user agreement. Stats currently look like the only thing we want to transfer.
I would like to forward a big apology from both Josh Allen [Axlecrusher] and myself regarding maintenance of the old SMO server. Hopefully this new blood and support from us will make sure the StepMania Online lives on more alive and better maintained than ever before. With the support of our old members and hopefully many new ones, I hope the community can thrive once again.
Thank you everyone for making this all possible.
I intend to check up on the forums over here often at least for the first few months. Charles Lohr

Thank you very much Charles. We will take care of the smo community and do whatever it takes to keep it alive and expand it. I'm proud to be a part of this community and I can't wait to see it flourish again.
